Frequent travels to India, specially to the southern state of Goa make it possible to offer some additional information/services to our friends and clients.
Goa is a unique place to travel to, although I recommend it for travelers wanting to stay in Goa for a time period longer than a month or so, because Goa is not just one beach or one village but a complete state: while there are stretches of untouched nature there are very well developed areas as well. There is a deep southern jungle as well as hillsides or flat stretches of land.
While you are based in Goa a trip to the neighbor states is feasible at any time for a shorter or longer trip.
Goa is very much different from other sites in India because the Portuguese influence for a couple of hundred years has made Goa a very versatile location: food is international, telecommunication is no problem, nearly everybody is speaking a foreign language; this has made Goa to become the fastest growing economic place on the Indian subcontinent.
The best time to travel is from mid October to mid March. There is a peak season around x-mas lasting for about 3 weeks.
House Rentals
We can get you a house if you require one for your stay of longer than 1 month. All houses are privately owned and are fully furnished including the service by a woman for cleaning and cooking and gardening. Some of the houses are Portuguese colonial style others have been recently built. Prices ranging from $200 - $ 500 AND MORE per week depending on their size and location.
Car & Bike Rentals
Only since a few years car rentals are available in Goa. Either you rent a small Maruti 600, a MiniVan or a Mahindra Jeep. As for motorbikes you may rent an Enfield 350 OR 500 BULLET , a Honda scooter or a Yamaha to be independent from taxis and busses. Prices range from $ 20/day for a Jeep or $ 5/day for a scooter, depending again on your length of stay and the time of the season. There are official car rentals on our list as well as local people renting out their private vehicle to the trustworthy tourist.
Official rentals require a mayor Creditcard and an International Drivers License, private renters want cash.
